La Piedra de Madera

PRESENTATION
“Good people, sometimes help a poor fallen stone, even a little, a few meters up, towards the hundreds of possibilities that height offers”. Ivar Heckscher
La Piedra de Madera is a shared place where scenes follow one another, transform and move, thanks to everyone’s collaboration.
A different point of view for each one based on the freedom of choice, or the responsibility of choice, depending on how they look at it.
As a public we seek to disappear among the others to look without being seen. Like the stones on a cliff that are beaten until they blend in, even those that are not made of stone.
La Piedra de Madera is a transgenerational experience that uses the circus language of balance, trust, and humor to bring people together.
Could it be that life is about learning how to make the stones dance? And to realize that if we share the weight, even stones can be light?

ARTISTIC TEAM

Francesca Líssia
Artistic direction, creation and interpretation
After her passage at Carampa Circus School in Madrid, where she meets her base and travelling companion Celso Pereira, she goes to the north of Europe, to the DOCH (University of Dance and Circus in Stockholm) and passes her diploma, specializing in Hand to hand acrobatics, with honors. With Celso she creates the company Celso y Frana and the show “Here Begins the Story”. Celso and Frana participate in the Hivsinki Circus “Hurjaruuth” (2009) and in “Intervall” by La Central del Circ and la Mercè (2016), and they direct the project “Bach under the tree”, with the Polyphonic Choir of Cagliari ( 2015 ), among other projects.

Celso Pereira
Artistic direction, creation and interpretation
With a Physical Education Diploma from the INEF in Galicia, he takes his first steps into the world of circus at Carampa Circus School in Madrid, where he meets Francesca Lissia, with whom he gives life to the company Celso y Frana and with whom he also leaves to study in Stockholm. Specializing in Hand to hand catching, mini teeterboard and object manipulation he teams up with the rest of the team of Compañía de Circo “eia’’ at its foundation.

Jose Luis Redondo
Artistic direction, creation and interpretation
With a degree in Physical Education, José Luis Redondo has studied different circus techniques in Carampa (Madrid). He is specialized in balance and humor, and later studied at the Escuela de Circo Criollo in Buenos Aires. In 2012 he received the Special Audience Award from the Club of Spanish Clowns and Circus Artists for “Ricky, the tennis teacher”. In 2015 he created the company Vaques together with Jorge Albuerne and in 2018 he participated in La Pranza! of the Companía de Circo”eia”.
PRESS
“It is La Piedra de Madera, the show that the Compañía de Circo “eia” has brought to Tàrrega, where the three artists masterfully combine balances, small acrobatics and humor, all done with stone and wood and, also, counting on the absolute complicity of the public”.
Magí Camps, La Vanguardia
“The virtuosity of the balances and of a space in continuous transformation, with the support of the public, allows to unite the poetics of hand to hand with positions and twists complicated to balance, with the fresh and white humor of José Luís Redondo that makes the ‘naughty with the complicity of the smile of the other two performers (Celso Pereira and Francesca Lissia)”.
Jordi Bordes, Recomana.cat
COMPLEMENTARY ACTIVITIES
Compañía de Circo “eia” places human relations at the center of its creations. That is why meeting and sharing with others is one of the activities we enjoy the most.
La Piedra de Madera is a particularly participatory circus show in which the public plays a fundamental role. For this reason, we offer the possibility of complementing the program of the show with three particular versions.
